Springfield Oyster Festival 2011

The Springfield Oyster Festival (http://springfieldoysterfestival.com) is coming Saturday October 1th to the Springfield Missouri area.  Taking place at Summers at the River resort.  The facility is located 3 miles south on Campbell from the James River freeway.  See the website for more details and directions..

The day will feature a live bands, comedian, fire spinners, sand castle building, oyster eating contests with cash prizes and more.  A family friendly atmosphere the event will be taking place from 11am to 8pm and will be a ton of fun for the whole family.

Featuring a performance from legendary Bill Dees.  The writer of Roy Orbisons smash hot “Pretty Woman”.  Also playing live will be local favorites SpinRad and others.  These bands and others will be playing classic rock, bluegrass, blues, and more. Visit the website for more details.

Hooters, Cartoons and others will be serving oysters in every way imaginable.  A large selection of recipes and oyster sauces will be served directly from your favorite Springfield MO restaurants as the bar will house Pizza, and Hot dogs as well as dozens of types of Beer.

Social Anxiety?

At a conference for business leaders I wanted to check the pulse of the participants.  I gave them a break two minutes & asked them to stand up & talk to each other. When they returned, I asked how lots of of them had a place to meet someone they have no idea. Just one single, solitary hand went up in the air.

This was important that the workshop of the conference was to establish effective business relationships. The moral of this exercise is that they are naturally drawn to individuals who know & like. & it is simple to maintain our current network of customers, colleagues & industry contacts. In lots of cases, this reluctance is based on self-centered emotions, such as:

• They do not like me.
• I have no idea what to say.
• I am not nice at tiny talk.
• My new business, & I’ll look like a beginner.
• They will think I am boring.
• It seems unusual to speak with a stranger.
• All of them appear to know. I will be the outsider.

It is ironic that most people feel the same way & could basically comforted each other. But everyone keeps to the “safe” relationship, they already know. Thus, in our efforts to stay in our comfort zone, they act selfishly & do not fully explore new opportunities.

This may be the “kiss of death” to a service. for new businesses or those trying to expand in to new areas. Meeting new people is essential to the success of the organization.

Responding to – & the full involvement – with new people (potential customers, partners, or in reference sources), they open our doors to:

• To learn about other companies.
• To learn about new opportunities for us.
• Learn how others accomplish their goals.
• Learn “and not” do something.
• Learn what is “‘to those who are more experienced.
• Learning that they can deal with extended comfort zone.
• Learn to be more effective.

One of the largest challenges for service providers, professionals, entrepreneurs & sales people is to have new confidence to strike new relationships.You owe it to yourself & your business (or your employer).

Tools you need are:

• Ability to listen actively.
• The flexibility & patience.
• A actual interest in the diversity of other people.
• A nice dose of self-knowledge, communication to control their natural impulses.

Among the notable attributes of American Society is the prevalence of the Superhero Culture. This is manifested in the affinity for fictitious characters with superhuman abilities. This socio cultural constructs present in comics, video games & other like material go on adventures & fight those who are against what is lovely, , noble & humanistic. They are not of a uniform mold but are as varied as a society itself. Like any community these personas, though imaginary are an important externality in terms of Social Interaction.

In Social Interaction, an externality must be shared by several individuals in society. This might be a tangible or intangible as long as it facilitates the socio personal interchange. These characters are a manifestation of a shared experience, value or beliefs. Any American knows & can identify with Superman, Batman, Spider Man, Iron Man & the like. Their affinity for these individuals is as culturally deep as the Greeks & their pantheon of mythological deities.

The American society in whole or in part share attributes with this non actual persons. These fictional individuals served as tangible modes through which Social Interaction could viably happen. However, this important cultural phenomenon is not purely founded on affinity for them as an externality. They are also significant repositories of values. Fighting for justice, using individual ingenuity to solve issues & defending the oppressed are a quantity of these ideals.

Some argue that the Superhero Culture as an integral part of social dynamics, such as social interaction. Its detractors contend that this becomes the source of radical American war bravado. Some say that the warmongering of this society is brought about by a society interacting through these imaginary personas. However, this cannot be validly appreciated. Cultural nuances such as having externalities of heroes fighting sinful & these evils are the enemies of the United States. Every culture has their own idea of what is sinful & what they stand for.

Social Interaction is most effective when it is through symbols that are provocative, appealing & culturally expressive. Any cultural icons that exist not as actual individuals but as representations of values & matchless communal attributes better facilitate the shared interchange of individual expression in the social dimension. The level of mythos & relevance they take on is such that they are seen not characters in comic books, animated shows & fiction in general. They are not that to the communitys psyche.

More importantly for Social Interaction to have a long-lasting imprint in terms of the individuals in society, they must hold considerable weight. Ideas of moral responsibility, vigilance to uphold justice & doing what is right irrespective of the cost are best expressed & integrated in to members of society not with mere words or written text. They are best ingrained through symbols & appealing representations superheroes.

For Social Interaction, Batman, Green Lantern, & Charles Xavier make the whole phenomena simple & even insightful. These characters are supposed to reflect the best of human nature & the reality of the struggle to be better. This in turn is the foundation of lasting social development.

The #1 place in Springfield to get a burger is at Flame, Downtown, before 4pm, get your self to the Flame on walnut.  Out of 5 stars, for flavor alone, I give this burger an 8.  Yeah plus 3! I grew up in California and have had some great burgers from In & Out to all the dive joints with fresh and ingenious burger concoctions.

Did I mention the burgers are only $4?  The burgers are the ground filet mignon from the previous evening fare that did not make it to the grill, but were taken from the aging process.  Yes, make no mistake about Flame.  They dry age beef in a way that makes the steaks incredible, and its done all in front of your eyes.  The burgers are amazing, on amazingly moinmst rolls, and get the fry’s too.  Fresh, simple and killer cuts of dry aged beef make this burger like no other in Springfield MO!
